Department of Health is not responding to the LGBT Health and Safety requests to fix up the Northern Gay Sauna in Flushing.
Send a message to commissioner Mary Travis Basset,
thank you
Because many of the patrons come from minority backgrounds and some speak very little English, they are a very vulnerable community and an easy target for abuse and disrespect.
Patrons have come together to address this issue further and are demanding now that the employee Terry gets fired and that the facility will be fixed so it is safe and clean.
If the owner Mr. Rogers fails to comply, we will contact the media and public officials so they can take further actions as well.
Petition from the Northern
Sauna Patrons October
2013
Many patrons of the Northern Sauna have come together to
sign and submit this petition to the owner Mr. Rogers,
to express our concerns about your employee Terry. We find his behavior very
rude, abusive, unfriendly and is very little or not cooperative. His nasty
attitude towards many patrons has been the reason for people to return less or
not come back at all. Terry is also pimping patrons for money and tips and does
nothing to earn it.
While we appreciate you for providing the community with
your establishment and we value the Northern Sauna, we want to continue to
enjoy spending personal time there, without Terry’s negative energy that is
interrupting our positive experience on a regular basis. We feel after years of
his negativity and abusive behavior, it is time to bring it to your attention again
in form of a petition, because the many individual complaints have not resulted in any change in his behavior with the
patrons.
We thank you in advance for your time and consideration and
we hope that this petition will provide you with valuable information
addressing our concerns with Terry and we hope that in the future we can enjoy
a hassle free environment at the Northern Sauna establishment. Should this
abuse continue in the future, patrons are willing to speak to the media to take
further action about this matter.
Here are some pictures about this unsafe, roach infested and disgusting facility.

ReplyDeleteYikes
Old and run down. Sauna is permanently closed and there is no steam room. Do not sit on the cloth sofas in the movie room----LICE and very resistant to treatments. They try to change the sheets often in the cubicle rooms but there are not that many rooms so not really changed often enough.

This place was just terrible. The $10 I spent to get in could have been used for gas instead. I don't recommend this place for anyone.

ReplyDeleteNorthern visit
After reading some of the review I decided to experiment for myself and whet to check it out. As I enter the location I notice that how filthy, abandon and outdate all around. Some of the furniture were a left the street as unwanted. Décor, very difficult to determine if you were in a bath house, the orient or western world. Client, well they were OK. Recommendation, do not waste your $$$

ReplyDeletethe most disgusting place i have ever seen
This is truly the most disgusting place I have ever seen. I've been to some pretty shady places in my life (one of the perks of being a gay man in NYC), but this one beats all. It is filthy beyond anything I could have imagined. I knew, from previous reports, that it wasn't going to be the Hilton, but it is infested with insects. Beware! Beware!

ReplyDeleteStay away
If u like to have sex in a very dirty place, bed bugs, crabs, foot fungus, and some of the most unhappy workers in the work attend this place. The coffee sucks, no hot water, a lot of old people, they smell, dirty and rude.
this place is a rat hole, horrible ,should be close by the health department, towels look like 50 years old, bed sheets are like 100 years walls and floor are disgusting, the reception look like a place where you registered people for mental care in a third world country, it was the most disgusting experience i ever had in my life. i almost vomit after i left this place.

During my NYC years (1990s), I used to visit Northern in Queens and I had my good moments there back then. Today, based on the photos, it is rightly doomed. How can this place continue to operate in such conditions in a city that is considered a 'gay mecca'? Philadelphia, where I now live, has two gay bathhouses, both of which are immaculately maintained (the former Club Philadelphia, after suffering a non-fatal fire, has new owners who have gut-rehabbed that site and is called Club Philly and the Sansom Street Gym) and have staff who are reasonably courteous. NYC's sauna scene 'ain't what is used to be' and Northern is a grim witness to this. It is too bad that the 82nd Club in Elmhurst did not survive; it would have put Northern out of business in a flash. It was a decent place to hang out (1997-2002).
ReplyDeleteJoseph Smith. People should stop going there, when no money is coming in there get it together, that place looks nasty and bedbug infested

ReplyDeleteI COME HERE VERY OFTEN...I LOVE THERE VERY MUCH
ReplyDeleteAND I CAN FIND DIFFERENT GAY IN HERE...
AND I LOVE GAY TOO
I was a customer in the late 80' and went every two weeks on Monday night.
ReplyDeleteOnly once on a weekend. the place was fairly tolerable at the time and the crowd was friendly. Met some hot guys there wanting to play. One time I put out a fire that started in a room I was walking by. Being on Long Island it was the closed sauna to me in Nassau County. Its too bad in the city of New York someone cannot open a clean and updated sauna that one can enjoy going to a club at reasonable price.
